Internet Hoaxes List

Every so often a hoax may come across in your email and you may find it so incredible that you forward it to everyone you know. Sometimes this information seems "credible" enough or "reasonable" enough for you to take notice of it.

When you come across something that sounds official, free, or "too good to be true", then you should take the extra time to check some government sources or otherwise.

Here is a listing that I'm compiling that are simple hoaxes that are still out on the internet even after a couple of years:

The "Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this Month HOAX:

• REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month. REMINDER.....  all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. .... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:     888-382-1222  888-382-1222 . It is the National DO NOT CALL list It will only take a minute of your time... It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON... It takes about 20 seconds .  https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
